Who gets told, and when
The notification list is longer than people expect, and the notice periods are shorter.
A movement rarely concerns one organisation. Depending on what is moving, notice may be owed to police forces, highway authorities, and the bodies responsible for the roads it crosses — several of them, in several areas, at once.
Where it goes wrong
- Notice arrives at the right organisation but the wrong inbox.
- It arrives inside the period, but late enough that nobody can act on it.
- It is answered by someone who has since left, with the reasoning in their sent items.
- The same movement is asked about twice and gets two different answers.
What helps
One place everything arrives, one place the answer is recorded, and a way of seeing what is still outstanding without asking anybody. That is most of it.
